Hi Children,
Many students have approached me with concern, unable to decide what course to pursue in higher education. I will write about one career option every week. Please make sure you read the blog. You can also visit my personal blog.
This week I am writing about Design & Architecture.
The population of India runs into billions as we all know. India in future will require "smart architects & designers". Employers will look to hire people who have novel ideas & be cost effective in implementing it. The idea of green buildings too is catching up.
Roads too are congested. There is absolutely no place for people to move. Same is the condition with rail traffic. Employers will look to hire people who can decongest traffic on roads & may be people who can design & create some new rail system or supesonic rails at an economical cost.
More so with Prime Minister in to developing "smart cities". The upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati is also going to be a smart city with investments coming in from foreign countries.
With this agenda the following is worth looking into:(provided you like it & is your priority)
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering - Available in IIT, NIT & other reputed colleges & universities
Bachelor's degree in architecture- Govt colleges & other reputed universities &
School of planning & architecture- New delhi
Bachelor's degree in design- IIT Bombay(new course introduced)
After Bachelors degree you must specialise further: A few options are listed below
Masters in urban planning & architecture- Anna University, Chennai
Masters in design- NID Ahmedabad & Bangalore
Masters in energy engineering- CSIR.
Masters in landscape architecture- Anna University,Chennai
.
Thats good enough for a start.
See you next week.
